Fort Amhurst Garrison Event 20th 21st September 2014 3rd 95th/NA event
This will be a rare opportunity for re actors to have a fully immersive weekend by garrisoning a Napoleonic Fort.
The fort has amazing facilities which include working fires and barrack rooms, and plenty of features to practise period drill and skirmishing in woodlands and trenches, casements.
Our plan is we have a garrison commander and chief of staff ( Rob Yuill) who will run the garrison on a real time programme, which will include sentry duty, guarding of French prisoners, musketry training and skirmish tactics.
We will run Central catering as they would have at the time, with a cook house, also a working tavern for the evening , which will be open also Friday night.
The site has a Large main barracks ( refurbished Magazine) where the men will sleep and eat their meals, and keep their kit, you can bring modern camp beds as long as you bring period type blankets to hide them.
Central catering will provide Breakfast , lunch and dinner on Saturday and breakfast lunch on Sunday.
All regiments will work under one system of garrison orders and units will become messes for meal times and duty's, all will take their fair share of work.
Our aim is once you are on site you do not leave unless a medical or family problem, their will be no poping out for pizza or going to tescos.
On the Sunday afternoon at some stage our french prisoners will attempt to break into the armory and make for the docks, your duty will be to stop this before they escape.
Ladies, children are welcome as well as artillery as we hope the Fort will be firing 24 pounders as part of training and please bring your own cannons if you wish.
Messing fees will be £15.00 for the weekend which will also go towards powder costs.
Those of you who have experienced Stanton will enjoy this and those who fancy something different but do not wish to camp under the stars will have the opportunity to take part in real living history on a period site and actually feel you are a soldier of the period.
